If anything, my owner should have looked where she was going and she should be apologizing to me. But no, I just get treated like dirt. Oh sure, maybe she has cause to complain about the time I strolled under a ladder while she wasn’t looking. I should have remembered how jumpy she was. Hazel was startled when she saw me dart out from under the ladder, and she dropped an entire bucket of paint on her kitchen floor. So okay, my bad on that one.
And, I guess I could have tried harder to make sure my tail hadn’t swished and knocked an entire salt shaker into the brew of her best selling love potion, causing it to turn into cough syrup. Come to think of it, I guess there also was the whole debacle when I hopped on the latch for her umbrella. Yes, it popped open, and yes the little Hansel and Gretel kid somehow managed to snatch the umbrella and use one of the prongs as a lock pick for their cage. Who knew those chubby little twerps were amateur locksmiths? Those were isolated incidents though!
Oh sure, it’s easy enough for the witch to kick me around and blame me for every problem that crops up around this stupid little hut. Anytime I cross that old crone’s path, she’s liable to blame me for anything at all just for being an "unlucky" black cat!
Last week I was just trying to get to my litter box and she happened to be nearby watching television when the cable drops out in the middle of her favorite show. Do you know what she did? That old bat blamed me for the picture suddenly cutting out. Hey, I’m not the one who was late with the payments to the wizards’ guild lady! It’s just not right I tell you.
But you know what? I’ve had it. I’m a black cat and I’m proud to be so. If this little peace offering doesn’t lighten up her mood, I’m going to find myself a new witch, that’s what I’m going to do! And old Hazel can find herself a new broom partner if she wants to use the car pool lane again.
